To Ride the Low Wave?

According to the Natural Products center (NPI) getting in now, to ride the cresting wave of low carb product sales is a “smart business move.” With over 1,000 new low carb products landing on the shelves in the last 15 months and the over $1.4 billion market expected to triple in the next three years, that certainly looks like sound business advice. Unless…you’re aiming higher than this financially booming market.

While there’s not a thing wrong with being profitable, I take issue with companies who seek profits above principle and jump on to “ride the wave” and the publications that encourage this. When you put profits above people’s health you’re in for a short ride.

The way I see it, the bigger market is the business helping people live healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives — and staying true to your principles along the way. I happen to know that there are still people and businesses with the integrity and vision to stand by their beliefs even when the waves of profits are cresting all around. I see it every day in the people I work with, who adhere to the sound, simple truth that basic balanced nutrition is best – the results in people prove it all the while those using profits as their measure see it differently.

I admire and respect those who’ve pioneered and believe whole heartedly that low carb is the path to physical salvation (without buying into it myself) and am equally repulsed by the profiteers who feed the public one thing than go home and feed their family an entirely different fair.

    Dear Mr. Phillips,
I met you like many at an Arnold Classic contest in Columbus Ohio. I can relate to many things you say in your books and articles. I’m not one of those humongous body builders. I’m more of a Frank Zane physique guy. I like the honesty behind your words and its realism. Most people get high hopes and are led into the wrong direction by infomercials on TV. I actually thought of having a DVD that shows a Personal Trainer use machines in a gym (You would actually be perfect for this). The trainer should show people the correct way to train on the machines for men and women. 2 DVDs. I told a “friend” of mine in CT. that this would be a good idea to put on QVC or Home Shopping Network and yep you guessed he’s doing it and I’m not getting a penny. He even happens to be “Matt Damons’” cousin (which really means nothing). Listen to his reply to me “The idea isn’t any good unless you have the money to do it” I said “Well in that case the money isn’t any good unless you have an idea to invest in. I have also developed a since of psychic capacity as some may call it from exercise. Unfortunately I didn’t see this one coming from a “friend” well, I did have some inclination that he might take my idea, but I didn’t want to believe the feeling. My Bad! All in all my weight training has given me a six sense. I can sense peoples feeling more clearly and I seem to recognize what they are thinking and in some cases what they are going to do. This feeling of euphoria or ecstasy has my brain thinking consistently. I’m always coming up with new ideas and product inventions. I actually have a movie idea now that I am trying to pitch to an interested party. I’ve been trying to get a meeting with almost anyone in the industry just to listen. It hasn’t been successful. I think the movie industry is quite small and it’s more of a need to know someone or be someone thing. I think I’ll put an ad on the radio in California for a movie investor. It will be the new pinnacle of movie making for Hollywood. It will gross close to a Billion if I can get it to theaters. Well first I need to get a meeting so I can pitch the Film. I should try to use some of my telepathy powers to find a listening ear.
Oh, I better get to the gym for my psychic ability training I could use it to find an investor.
    Regards,
