The Truth About...

We love the truth. Why? Because we wanna know it. We, our human minds, want everything reducible to a concrete fact. We want the world in a thimble and for that thimble to have a cap so we can be safe and night and go to sleep.

Plus, we have this part of us which is inherently suspect. We may know a person for 30 years, know them well, and all someone has to say is, “Let me tell you the TRUTH about Joe…,” and our ears perk up and our minds start creating layers of doubt, questions. We honestly think–or more likely fear–that everything and everyone is on some level screwing us and we don’t know it.

I know, it’s a crazy thing but what I asked you here to talk about is that “THE TRUTH” is full of shit. Perhaps the only truth is that there ain’t no absolute TRUTH. Sure, we’re resolute about beliefs and we all have things we’re absolutely, positively certain of but that don’t make it truth. Or maybe it does… and perhaps that’s really the entire point; that the truth is relative, not absolute.

My truth that chocolate is awesome may not be your truth. But when we argue about what’s true maybe we’re both right.

Science has done a hell of a job of seeking truth and the closer they seem to get, the clearer it is that it’s further away. It’s quantum mechanics, particle physics. When we look really close, really, really close, it aint there. But then it is… be that Schrodinger’s cat or the particle.

It’s a complex subject, this simple idea of “THE TRUTH.” I have always been one to question the truth and in my travels I picked up a lot of insight from Ken Wilber, in his deep understanding and writings about “the truth is always relative.” He explains it better than me–of course he commits entire chapters to it. But the simple idea is that there’s always another layer below this truth or beyond.

The reason I am inclined to share is that I want to invite you to wake up and smell the stench whenever you see “The Truth about…” For someone’s always got “the truth” to share. And while their information, experience and story may be valid and even helpful, we’ve got to insert our own filter into every claim, such that it reads inside our heads as, “[A person's relative] Truth About _______.”

Find your own truths, and let them serve you. Be wary of others and any absolute truths. Take what works, checking everything at the gate of your consciousness and let the crap go.

May the absence of absolute truth set you FREE.

The 21-Day-SSC is a rapid transformation program where you give it everything you’ve got, going ALL OUT for 21-minutes a day, for 21-days straight.

The 21-minute workouts require absolute focus and intensity. You’ve got to keep the pressure on. You can’t afford to mess around. And that’s just what the program is designed to do, with the 30 seconds of training followed by the 30 second rest. [repeat]

About the 21-Day Summer SuperCharger
But first, if you’re not on board with the 21-Day SSC yet, today’s your day. Check it out, dive in and hang on. There’s still time to get in the flow and get your body beach ready for summer Visit: 21-Day Fit Summer Here

[following the Bodyweight / bootcamp style workouts? See comments below]

Rather than the standard model of 12-10 or 8 rep sets, in the 21-Day SSC you’re pushing reps to the clock, not the count. This really changes things and you’ll feel it. It’s quite a different experience.

Here’s a way to track your output. Use the workout Trackers [here - opt in on right to get them] and record the weight pushed and total reps for each set. Do this for the entire 21-minute workout.

Then, when you’re done score it. That means do the math: Multiply the pounds lifted x the reps completed (for each 30 second interval) and add them up.

For example: Bench Press : 200 lbs x 15 reps = 3000

Now, let’s say you just stick with this set weight for each of 3 sets. Add the total, 3,000 + 3,000 + 3,000_ = 9,000 lbs.

When you’ve completed this simple math and score your entire workout you’ll have a total pounds moved in 21 minutes number. Record that. That’s your baseline, the number you’re going to best each workout.

Now, as this can take a few extra seconds here and there, I suggest you mark your first workouts, then keep a loose track in the middle weeks and record the last week. This way you are keeping yourself honest and getting a closing measure of performance—but not jacking your focus each workout with too much record keeping.

Download the 21-Day SSC Push workout and give it a look. You’ll see how easy it is to track your total output. And keep the performance edge.

[NOTE About Bodyweight workouts
The bodyweight bootcamp workouts generously provided by veteran Bootcamp Genius Jonas Deffes of NolaTrainer.com are similar in set up in that you can measure and track performance by counting circuit… not just reps. Because they are set to change from one move to the next on rep count, you measure by tracking the completed circuits.

Alright… let’s get on it now!

Here’s to Your Life @ Full Strength… FAST!

David Blaine Knows What Commitment Means and How to Get It

Getting the body you’ve dreamed of is quite simply the product of COMMITMENT.

So we are told; over and over and over again.

Want to get to the top of that mountain? Climb it. Need to lose 100 pounds? Stop eating so much.

Just don’t this! Just do that.

Commitment baby!

The “BIG C.”

Is it really this easy or that hard?

So many people around you are succeeding in so many ways—all reaping the glorious benefits of commitment and discipline. It’s enough to leave you asking, “What’s wrong with me? Maybe I don’t want it enough.”

As Andy says to Opie, “You want the truth son?”

“Yep, just give it to me straight, Pa.”

Yes, commitment is involved in achievement but we love to over-simplify success—be it fitness success of financial. Not only does it make for a better story, with a more simple and noble moral but we like the stories that it make us look good.

So, along with the impressive photos of lean, chiseled bodies of men and woman you’ll nearly always find the embedded message of heroic effort, sacrifice and commitment. This may very well be the most common theme of our life time.

From the time we’re old enough to understand words we’re bathed in the message of struggle, hard work and sacrifice. Imagine the disservice we’d be doing our children or any child to tell them life’s easy—it’s not all pain and suffering—that you can live your dreams without sacrificing everything?

I know of but a few adults who admit to suffering such abuse as children, one being Sir Richard Branson. Seems his parents completely forgot to tell him about how damn hard it was gonna be.

The story we’re rarely getting about this coveted COMMITMENT: It’s not always a struggle nor a sacrifice. In fact, commitment can become almost magically effortless when fueled by the positive feedback of progress and success of significance.

Consider a boy trying to shoot a basketball. If he makes the first 3 shots you’ll find him practicing for hours, even if he misses the next 30. And yet the same boy, missing the first 3 shots, he loses his commitment and is gone even after he making the next 5.

We do what feels good and commitment is what we call it when we’re sticking with something that is feeling good, that is feeding our soul and positive regard for self.

Consider the challenge of becoming a skilled artist and painter. Where many will start from some level of struggle and lack of confidence, those with a natural ability to paint find becoming a skilled artist much, much easier to commit to and ultimately rewarding.

They get better because they get better. Which is in part because they stick to it, even when it looks bleak. They find positive feedback and progress in what’s there, not always comparing to where they want to be.

That’s not to say that if you can’t paint like DaVinci you should not bother. We can all improve our skills and abilities and there may be other rewarding things to painting other than being a great artist. But when we talk fitness, we’re talking about your health and your life which is less optional than art.

We get into a commitment trap, a conflict when we hold ourselves to the standard of Picasso or DaVinci and accept nothing less than the perfect body. Like every other human on earth, you too are imperfect. And that’s what makes it perfect–what makes your body different than every other one. And when you’re comparing yourself to the perfectly lit, skillfully staged, technically crafted images of the “ideal” body, commitment becomes a trap. While you may radically improve your own aesthetics and health, as well as your energy, you also may live in a state of frustration and disappointment–a mental and emotional hell, unable and unwilling to appreciate your own art.

And that sucks…

How Effortless Commitment Works For You

1) Find your art

We are not all meant to be painters or rock stars. Some of us can run longer other faster. Find your authentic expression—your “natural fitness style” as I call it in Strength for LIFE. This is your Strength.

From here the feedback that fuels commitment is easier to find—it finds you. As you gain confidence and fitness, becoming more grounded in your Strength you will come to embrace that a sound, healthy body is not simply strong, nor flexible, nor able to go great distances: It’s all of those things. And I encourage you to embrace “seasons of Strength” which help you develop your fullest and most balanced self.

2) Look at the Road, Ignore the Horizon

Measure your progress from whence you came–the distance you’ve covered to date, not the distance you have yet to travel. For the horizon is always moving and never attained… and will leave you forever chasing and exhausted.

When you’re searching for the feedback, the progress that fuels commitment, look to yourself not the images of perfection. Find what’s working even if it’s the celebration of a workout well done, the feeling of soreness in the abs or lats. The reward of knowing you’re in for the long haul without question or doubt. Just do what today calls for and be proud.

3) Embrace the Rituals

A study of the most committed people, communities and cultures in the world underscore the power and importance of rituals. A commune of monks is not at all unclear on the rituals of prayer and mediation. Most great musicians continue the same daily schedule of practice that made them skilled. Stephen King in his book on writing, shares that he gets up same time, same place every day and writes 2,000 words, rain or shine. He doesn’t check in to see how he’s feeling or if he’s got “the magic” today.

Find your rituals: In training, time, season, schedule. In nutrition which could be like mine and millions of others, starting each day with a Daily Integrated Nutrition Shake. It may be repeat meals, like eating largely the same thing each day. Find your mindfulness space, your mental preparation, focus time and meditation.

Don’t rely on discipline or inspiration in the moment. Commitment is less the “thing” that gets you where you want to go than the combined result of the things you put in place to get you there. And when you want to be doing what you’re doing, when it’s working for you inside out, others will marvel at your commitment and you can give them the truth or allow them to think you too are a marvel of discipline and self-sacrifice.

We both know which the easier and more expected answer is, right?

Right!

Are you experienced enough to remember the pet rock phenomena of the 70′s. Quite a remarkable fad that made it’s inventor, Gary Dahl a millionaire nearly overnight.

The premise was very simple. Take an inanimate object and allow millions of people to project their uniquely human qualities on it. Thus, giving it–the rock–the illusion of being, of living, of having human quality.

Now, of course we know in our minds that the rocks are rocks. And we’d never really have an affection for them. But then again… maybe.

What’s this have to do with “stubborn belly fat?”

Yes, yes… that is the point. First off, where’d this term “belly fat” come from? It’s such a cute and almost cuddly way of saying you’re fat. But then someone adds the “stubborn” to it. Stubborn? People are stubborn. Stubborn arises from an emotion, a resistance.

When we choose to believe we have “stubborn” fat we’ve given our fat a personality—a character and now we’re in an even more emotional struggle with it.

Furthermore, the belief or description of fat as “stubborn” may feed into your own psyche–the frustrations you’ve experienced–even relieving you from some of them. But it’s also dis-empowering you at the same time. It’s creating a fat that has a characteristic and you are nearly helpless (except with the amazing diet pills or techniques being offered) to combat it.

Fact is fat is fat. Okay, brown fat, white fat… but losing fat is a process. It’s less magic than mechanics. And we all have places where our body prefers to store it’s fat. For men that’s generally in the mid-section; for women the hips and lower body. And wherever the preference is, that’s the last place our body’s want to let it go from. For fat is not lost uniformly across the body.

So, let go of the stubborn. And if you need to hold any part of stubborn, you be the stubborn one and let fat be the pet rock, that’s yielding–perhaps not at your preferred scheduled pace, but yielding nonetheless–to your stubbornness and resolve.

WOW! It’s the not so secret “sauce” that makes you an athlete.

Right?

Let’s put the G = Gatorade to the test, mono-a-mono against the formidable banana. And see who prevails…

The measure is the highly-coveted, muscle hydrating mineral, potassium.

QUESTION: Which has more Potassium?

A) 32 OZ Gatorade <==

B) 1 Banana <==

The ANSWER: C) One Chocolate Full Strength!

Honestly, it’s not where I started out. I began by comparing the G-ade and Banana and it turns out, as you might guess, the Banana beats the corn-syrup crap out of Gatorade G Series.

An average banana has about 450 mg of potassium. Gatorade (32 oz) has 120 mg total in it’s total 56 grams of sugar.

The delicious Chocolate Full Strength shake delivers 1570 mg of potassium, a complete, balanced nutritious meal.

But as I was sitting here typing this, enjoying a Full Strength, I looked at the packet and noticed my Full Strength Shake beat the banana by over 348%!

And yes, that means one Full Strength shake has more potassium than 13 big size Gatorades – over 3 gallons of sugary, sweet G-ade. Now that’s sweet!!

Next time you’ve played the role of athlete, be in the weekend-warrior sort or the prime-time game, reward your body and mind with the vitamins & minerals it needs along with the finest premium proteins and carbs that will boost you now and keep your strong for hours.

There’s no better time for a FULL STRENGTH than when you’ve earned it!

No exaggeration. What are you good for?

Still, fact is, with kids, work and all the stuff that over-fills the days more often than not I’ve got to bang it out—fast as possible.

You too?

Admit it. I do. You, me, we…We’re all looking to get more from less— and it’s no different with our cardio training.

Admit it. I do. You, me, we… We’re all looking to get more from less… and it’s no different with…

More results, more satisfaction, more lean, shredded awesomeness in less time. And that’s precisely why people love HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training.

HIIT works. HIIT is quick (20 minutes). HIIT fits into a busy fit life.

Be careful about the “less” part though. Because, while HIIT offers you results equal—even exceeding—long, slow cardio, it doesn’t come with “less effort.”

HIIT is about quality of quantity and in this case the quality is in the form of intensity, focus and absolute balls out effort. You gotta bring it or you’re living a fat-fairy tale.

Spring Into HIIT and Get FIT

With spring just around the corner, the desire for leanness peaking. The perfect time to revisit the most compact, concentrated, and proven effective system for both boosting your cardiovascular capacity (VO2 max) and slashing your body-fat: HIIT.

Okay, I wasn’t without a nudge on this one—as the New York Times recently ran an article boosting the power of HIIT.

It’s great that millions more are discovering what you and I’ve known for years…

Perhaps you learned about HIIT when we introduced it in Muscle Media some 15 years ago, or started practicing it with Body-for-LIFE a decade ago, or in my most recent book, Strength for LIFE.

Need a refresher in the science of HIIT, see what the NY Times has to say:
“Despite the small time commitment of this modified HIIT program, after several weeks of practicing it, both the unfit volunteers and the cardiac patients showed significant improvements in their health and fitness.”
See What the Science Says from the NY Times

Download the HIIT Workout Tracker from Strength for LIFE here.

HIIT: What is it?

Is the fastest, most effective way to both burn more fat and generate more sustainable muscle power, in less time.

The fastest, most effective fat-eliminating, VO2max boosting cardio training you—or anyone—can do; HIIT!

While I do suspect that HIIT’s fat-scorching reputation may be a bit exaggerated, even “as good as” fitness and fat-loss results in 20 minutes is worthy of accolades. That’s why I’ve long chosen HIIT to fuel my fit-cardio. Except of course when I’m in the saddle for cycling season. Yes, then it’s back to going the distance for hours a couple times a week.

Good Fat-Burning to You!

Glutamine, the most abundant amino acid in the body, constitutes over 60% of the free-floating pool of amino acids in your muscle tissue.

In times of stress, including intense exercise or training, injury or illness, your body robs your muscles of glutamine—breaking down your hard earned muscle. Because depletion of glutamine can lead to muscle wasting, suppressed immune function, intestine atrophy and leave your body vulnerable in many ways, Glutamine is considered by many a “conditionally essential” amino acid.

In my book it’s “life essential.” Glutamine even slightly edges out creatine as my #1 favorite supplement of all time.

7 Amazing Actions of Glutamine:

Helps Build and Preserve Muscle

Improves Brain Function / Mood

May Boost Weight Loss Thru Insulin Control

Strengthens Immune Strength

Controls Sugar & Alcohol Cravings

Supports Optimal Gut Health

Maintains Body Ph Balance

After you read these delicious benefits of glutamine I expect you’ll be eager to find where you can get some of your own. No worries… I got ya covered. Stay tuned.

1) GLUTAMINE HELPS YOU GAIN MUSCLE AND KEEP IT

Through a number of both anabolic and anti-catabolic actions, Glutamine helps you when the “get-bigger-muscles” game but helping build them and keep muscle.

Here’s how it helps you win the muscle gain game:

Glutamine Promotes Protein Synthesis
Glutamine acts as a regulator of protein synthesis, increasing protein synthesis and decreasing protein degradation in muscle. And there is reason to suspect that the more glutamine in the muscle the greater rate of protein synthesis. (That’s good!)

Glutamine Super-Hydrates Muscle Boosting Anabolic Process
Glutamine is the most important amino acid for promoting cellular hydration (aka cell volume). And cellular hydration seems to be positively anabolic stimulus for protein synthesis—making Glutamine even more important in the complex process of adding muscle.

[It’s worth noting that cellular dehydration directly stimulates catabolism—or muscle breakdown. Once again emphasizing the anabolic and anti-catabolic actions of Glutamine.]

Glutamine Blocks Muscle Stripping Stress and Cortisol
Stress and its catabolic hormone associate, cortisol, can ravage the muscle tissue, your immune system, robbing your energy and vitality at an alarming rate. Glutamine acts like a defense shield, effectively blocking the potential devastation common in times of stress.

Glutamine appears to have significant anabolic effects
A nitrogen and carbon donor, Glutamine is an important muscle-building amino acid; that also helps replenish muscle glycogen after exercise. Without sufficient glutamine, muscles will atrophy.

As a super-duper special bonus, studies show that Glutamine may have a positive impact on GH release (growth hormone) and even indirectly support testosterone.

2) GLUTAMINE IMPROVES BRAIN FUNCTIONING

Glutamine is a “universal donor” for your neurochemistry—brain function—as it modulates both GABA, a calming neurotransmitter, and Glutamate a stimulating neurotransmitter.

Glutamine is highly concentrated in the brain. An important fuel for the brain, it is helpful with focus, concentration, memory, intellectual performance, alertness, attentiveness, improving mood, & eliminating brain fog & cloudiness.

3) GLUTAMINE HELPS CONTROL BLOOD SUGAR & INSULIN LEVELS

Glutamine plays a vital role in controlling of blood sugar. When the blood sugar is low, Glutamine suppresses insulin to stop the further decline of the sugar levels. It also stimulates glycogen to be released to help increase the blood sugar to normal levels, preventing hypoglycemia.

Helping insulin levels and blood sugar to return to more moderate levels may contribute to a reduction in appetite and increased weight loss as high levels of insulin are implicated in metabolic syndrome, diabetes and may be a leading contributor to weight gain and obesity.

4) GLUTAMINE STRENGTHENS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

Glutamine is the primary source of energy for the various cells of the immune system, including T-cells and macrophages. Strenuous exercise, viral and bacterial infections, and stress and trauma in general cause glutamine depletion that starve immune cells. They decline in number and/or show diminished activity.

5) GLUTAMINE DECREASES SUGAR AND ALCOHOL CRAVINGS

Glutamines role in free-flowing support of brain chemistry along with blood-sugar stabilizing effects explain why it has been shown to decrease alcohol and sugar cravings.

In studies with alcoholics, glutamine decreased the desire to drink, decreased anxiety, & improved sleep. It works best given upon rising and between meals.

Giving Glutamine to rats decreased their voluntary alcohol consumption by 34%. When the Glutamine was stopped, their alcohol consumption returned to baseline levels.

6) GLUTAMINE MAINTAINS OPTIMAL HEALTH OF THE GUT

The primary fuel source for the cells lining the intestinal tract, glutamine is critical for the maintenance of proper gut metabolism, structure & function. The cells lining the small intestines consume Glutamine at a voracious rate, using up to 30% of the circulatory pool.

Studies show that Glutamine helps promote healing of an impaired gut, in people suffering with ulcers, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s Disease. It enhances bowel function when there has been partial removal of the intestines & improves overall survival in gut originated severe infection.

Glutamine may even help combat gut permeability which can lead to increased allergy reactions to foods, & increased predisposition to autoimmune problems.

7) GLUTAMINE MAINTAINS BLOOD and BODY Ph Balance

Glutamine also plays a part in maintaining proper blood pH range. If the pH of the blood is too acidic, glutamine is directed to the kidneys, where it results in the release of bicarbonate ions to correct acidosis. If the pH is too alkaline, more glutamine is sent to the liver, where a different kind of metabolism releases hydrogen ions to correct alkalosis.

BONUS: OTHER GLUTAMINE BENEFITS

Antioxidant Power: Glutamine is important for the synthesis of glutathione one of our body’s “Master Antioxidants.”

Liver Protection: Glutamine may play a significant hepatoprotective role against drugs which strain your liver, yes, even anabolic steroids.

Protects Lungs: Adequate Glutamine helps to protect the lungs from toxic insult.

There are many reasons for to be taking glutamine: bigger, stronger muscles and immune system, a healthier intestines, better blood sugar control—which means weight loss—and a more vibrant brain.

Glutamine is especially important for people who suffer from intestinal problems, frequent NSAID users who need to protect their gastrointestinal tract, those with immune dysfunction, and anyone under heavy stress (including strenuous exercise) or recovering from injury or other trauma.

It may also be helpful as adjunct therapy in the treatment of addictions such as alcoholism. Glutamine is especially popular for bodybuilders and athletes wish to add muscle and boost their physical strength and mental energy.

Where to Get GLUTAMINE

Glutamine is relatively plentiful in animal and plant proteins. The typical American diet provides between 3.5 grams and 7 grams of glutamine.

Glutamine can be supplemented in its pure, white powdered form. It dissolves quickly and has a light sweet taste so it needs to masking. Add it to a nutrition shake (not Full Strength as we already do that for you) or just water or juice.

Glutamine is abundantly present in whey protein. The Full Strength nutrition shake provides a whopping 11.7 grams of glutamine from the Premium Protein blend, including its high concentrations of whey isolate, and an additional pure-glutamine boost. This mega-dose of glutamine may contribute to Full Strength’s lasting satiety and ability to balance and sustain blood sugar—insulin levels for hours.

Follow the Arrow to the Fruit-Smoothies!

This scene plays out tens of thousands of times a day across the country: Your typical “health nut” with the best of intentions, slams down a shot of wheat grass (whatever the hell that is), and promptly chases it with a whopping 785 calorie, carb-o-bomb “fruit smoothie” before hobbling over to yoga class in a pre-diabetic stupor.

And this is what many of us are being told is healthy! Be afraid, I am.

From the bars, juices, smoothies, the “lite” this to the sprouted that, fact is “health foods” are not always as they seem.

We love anything that looks like a healthy-alternative to sitting down and eating. That’s the origin of the “sugar bomb” juice-smoothie and has fueled the explosion of calorie-dense “nutrition bars.” The good news is people are trying to replace the drive-thru.

But like most people, you too may be too busy to eat three—let alone four, five or six—healthy, hand-made, balanced meals a day. Who’s got the time? I mean really, eating healthy can be a downright an energy draining pain in the ass.

You do what you can to get by for breakfast—which usually means a cup of coffee and all too often some quick-carbs, adding “insult to injury,” as the saying goes. You may even resort to snacking, energy drinks or more coffee throughout the day. Around lunch you settle for whatever takes the least time and wish you could treat yourself better.

You have no real plan, no strong daily rituals to ground, so you make it up—moment to moment—as you go along. And that is the perfect recipe for gradual but steady weight gain.

Why? Why can’t we do better, eat better?

Time. Time is a major issue for most people on the way up in life—it drives us to make decisions we’d otherwise do differently. Heck, fast-food didn’t become a $200 billion annual business because it’s so delicious and energizing!

In each moment, each decision made several times a day, it makes perfect sense. Putting your body “on-hold” while you’re busy getting more urgent (if not important) stuff done to “make-it” in life. But the logic is fundamentally flawed.

Skipping meals and feeding yourself poorly has a dramatic and damaging impact on your body, your energy, your ability to think straight, your concentration and focus as well as slowing your metabolism to a slow crawl.

Day by day, brick by brick, you’re adding ounces that turn into pounds, carrying weight and habits that rob you of energy, strength and the freedom to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to have.

What I’m talking about here is living far below your capacity – a silent suffering that is not something a salad now and then is going to resolve.

Fact is life is lived NOW.

Waiting until you have “more time” to enjoy it, to live it, to be at Full Strength in your body, mind and soul is living life backwards. You’re sacrificing health and the very currency of life, the energy you really need for results in the hopes that you’ll get a chance later.

Full Strength is like daylight savings for your body-mind energy—every day. It’s takes you out the dark and into the light and energy for several hours every day. It’s the daily, deeply nourishing ritual that can break you free from the waiting, the hoping and gets you in the game—living with the confidence, clarity and energy NOW.

And let’s face it, as ENERGY is the true currency of LIFE, Full Strength is where busy, driven, high-achievers like you plug in.

Feel the Difference that Full Strength Nutrition can make in your day, and life. Grab yourself a 2-Week Challenge package and if you don’t absolutely love the way it tastes, the energy and freedom it brings to your body and life, just let me know and it’s on me. ZERO RISK to you.

The Full Strength Story

In early 2005, frustrated, furious and focused I set out on a mission. My goal was to end the waiting, to bring the future to the present and create the super-food of the future – one that would energize your body, uplift your mind and mood, keep you soaring for hours without any hunger cravings and deliver that hour of more of freedom every day. .

The result of 14 months of steady, focused effort, over a million dollars invested, 57 formula revisions, 18 “final checks,” and even 5 graphic design teams were required to build the packaging (yes, I’m a perfectionist and really impatient!), is Full Strength: “The World’s First, Fast Performance Food.”

Yes, that’s right: Fast, performance, food.

Full Strength™, the world’s first Performance Fast-Food, is a mouthwateringly delicious total nutrition shake that quickens your body, sharpens your mind, and keeps you going strong all day long. It’s the perfect, balanced, nutritious food when life demands your absolute best–like every day.

If you struggle to make the time to eat right, tire of the battle to make the right, healthy food choices or perhaps your personal chef is on a cruise…or you’re simply ready to feel great again, all day, every day… it’s time for you to experience the freedom and energy that Full Strength brings to life.

Now there’s a fast, easy, delicious alternative designed to:

Boost and sustain your energy—without sugar or caffeine

Eliminate hunger for up to four productive hours

Promote vibrant health, increased strength and fat loss

Eradicate mid-morning and mid-afternoon energy sabotage

Sharpen your mind, enhance focus and awareness

Start each day with strong energy and come home with the same

Fuel your mind and body for sustainable achievement and success

Feel great, energized, razor-sharp, strong and fit

Delight your senses with delicious, real ice-cream taste

Full Strength is a quick, delicious, fully integrated premium nutrition shake. It’s the ideal way to charge your body and mind for performance. Its a healthy, balanced breakfast or quick, satisfying lunch that gives you a boost of focused, clear energy and keeps you going strong for up to four hours.

“Livin’ The Dream, baby!”

Yep, living the dream. Seems it once was not just a popular phrase but a more common approach to life.

This came up for me in a coaching session today. I was dealing out my list of crap that’s not working in my life, the nice version of complaining, when my coach told me a story–as he’s prone to do.

He spoke of his own recent dance with the ridiculous, an exploration into things and aspirational goals that turn his crank, so to speak. In this case, it was building out a new Porsche, with all the fixings, in the Porsche web site.

Now, mind you, he’s not even a car guy. It’s not about the car–it’s about the idea of aiming high, of generating some enthusiasm. To call it a “goal” would be to miss the point. It’s not a goal, it’s an ideal.

He and I talked about how as men in the prime of life (meaning less young than we used to be) we have tended, like many men, to put away “childish things” and take on the weight and responsibility of the world. How easy, even natural, it is at this time in our lives to let go of dreams, to stop “playing” with the aspirational things.

As a result, we’ve become burdened, weighted, heavy–not light and fun. We’re simple living to “get ‘er done” and “wisely” not aspiring or striving. It’s like we try to hard to be “grown ups” and we put away the fast cars and fun…

And while this life is not a “nightmare” in the sense of a scary dark dream, it’s got a theme which could make it much more frightening long term.

For it’s a mode that is not fun and thus, not fun to be around and devastatingly draining of life force and joy.

And while this is not true for everyone, I do a much better when I’m aiming for crazy, fun, silly, big things, even if I don’t take them all too serious, than when I’m trying to hold the ground down.

Hence, when you lack the “dreams” (said will great caution and care) we end up dealing with an uninspired struggle… because we’re aiming for “health” as in Survival rather than thriving.

One very effective, self-prescribed, path to a solution is to engage yourself in Chapter 6 of Strength for LIFE: Your Blueprint for Brilliance.

This often overlooked chapter in Strength for LIFE is one of the hidden gems. It’s an heart opening, mind expanding Vision and Goal setting process that can carve some clarity like few processes I’ve ever seen. (and believe me, I’ve done more than a few.)

Who's Your Guru Baby?

We live in a connected world. But do you ever wonder just who you’re really connected to?

A torrent of information at your finger tips. In a fraction of a second you have access to nearly anything you could imagine ever wanting to know.

Who wrote the screenplay to Gone with the Wind? Shazamm, you’ve got it in a Wiki instant.

Want to know how to lose those last (winky, winky) 10 lbs. of unsightly body-fat or how to add 27 pounds of lean, sculpted muscle in 28 days… click, whir, booom! You got it!

It’s a miracle I tell you! A miracle!

Or is it? Think again.

There’s a problem, an inherent problem, with all this information. You see, the published word used to be like the NFL, you had to work your ass of to earn the right and still only a fraction of those who slaved their lives away to get a chance made the cut.

There once was a process in place that worked as an invisible filter for the 99% of crap you’d never want to see.

Well, here, Dr. Andrew Weil says it well:

Before the Internet, data had to undergo a Darwinian selection process before it reached the masses. Paper, ink and distribution cost money and time. That usually meant someone exerted quality control to ensure that whatever was communicated was worth buying. With distribution and consumption now virtually free, that constraint is gone. Francis Heylighen, a cyberneticist at the Free University of Brussels, wrote that the resulting explosion of “irrelevant, unclear, and simply erroneous data fragments” might best be termed “data smog.” [More on Data Smog here]

Dr. Weil makes a great, valid point. One that I first spoke about in the late 90′s, long before the advent of blogs, (yes, like this one) made matters even worse.

So, What Are You Supposed To Do?

Given the amount of information that flows through your computer screen(s) on a weekly basis, chances are very good that you’re getting something from this guy (see the Guru above). Okay, maybe not that one but you get the point.

It’s harder than ever to determine who’s info is worthy of your time and attention. Unfortunately, there is no simple formula, no Guru-divining rod. So, you’re left with your senses and your instinct.

Here are a few basic guidelines which may help:

Question everything. Ask yourself what the motive is. Not all motive is bad but you should just be thinking about it.

Look to follow people who’ve heard of, a friend told you about…

Don’t confuse e-books with books… as in “REAL books.” Too many guru’s these days are producing e-books because of the ease and lack of boundaries. And they can be fine, even great but there’s a big, big difference between an e-book and a real, major publisher hard bound book.

Don’t put too much stock in their images / photos but still look for them. Some have gotten fit but don’t keep it. Others… not.

Check their Facebook profiles to see if they are human or just marketers. Some folks simply sell and never really relate to anyone on the team.

Real hard cover books may be on their way out but their still the gold standard. And I’m hear to tell you, you don’t get one by accident nor does an editor let you off any page easy.

Consider this a warning, it’s dangerous out there, and in your computer. And it’s going to get crazier as we move on, not less.

Stay Strong, Stay Safe… be wise.
